Ceiling Fans

Here is a quick analysis of Ceiling Fans vs. Air Conditioners and the energy consumed for each.  Do you have ceiling fans installed throughout your home? These are a quick way to cool you home without using very much electricity. When the heat starts to warm up your home, turn on your ceiling fans and get the air moving to mix the cooler air with the warmer air. This will immediately cool down the house. Be sure to remember that the hotter air is in the higher locations, next to the ceiling. Be sure to check the rotation of the blades, because one rotation brings the warmer down and the other rotation brings the cooler air up. By running you’re your ceiling fans you could save as much as 25% - 50% on your cooling energy cost. Most ceiling fans can have a light kit installed on the bottom of them and can also give you ample light for that room. The next time you reach to turn on that air conditioner, be sure to give your ceiling fans a fighting chance so that you can make a positive impact on both your electric bill and the environment in which you live.

I agree with your comment completely.   Ceiling fans or other low powered artificial wind machines are going to save you so much more money then paying for an energy bill for some a/c. Plus your doing a lot more for the environment if you go for ceiling fans.
